Boise developer Mark Rivers got the green light and $185,000 from officials in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to move forward his Holiday Market in the honeymoon capital.

Rivers plans on a 36-day European-style holiday market in downtown Niagara Falls, including concerts, vendors and an outdoor skating rink near the falls. Rivers estimated that the entire project should cost $900,000 but was looking for $225,000 from the city of Niagara Falls, with the rest coming from vendors and sponsors.
Monday evening Niagara Falls officials said Rivers had proven to them that the deal was legit and approved the funding.
"I know we set some objectives and benchmarks for you, and we commend you for reaching them," Niagra Falls councilman Samuel Fuscione told Rivers. "It makes our decision-making process a lot easier."
Rivers' holiday festival is scheduled to begin the day after Thanksgiving.
