A car charity has launched a scheme to make better use of second-hand vehicles.
The scrap and donate initiative by BEN, an automotive industry charity, aims to offer participants an easy way to dispose of their unwanted cars and turn the value of the vehicle into a donation.
In collaboration with Cartakeback, a scrap valuation service, the campaign has generated a lot of interest from companies and individuals, with Marshall Volvo Peterborough becoming the first corporate firm to sign into the deal.
Service driver for Marshall Volvo Peterborough Mark Hawes said: "I'm very proud to be the first company to take up this scheme and hope many more people follow suit.

"[Companies] could benefit by removing the hassle of what to do with these unwanted motors."
He added that this is the first step in making a difference to the use of old vehicles and that it is a good way to support the charity and the industry.
Carmakers have a legal obligation to provide a car scrapping service, according to Cartakeback, which provides its services to the main car brands in the UK.
