Week 12 Fantasy Football Versus | Decision-Maker

Fantasy Football Fantasy Versus Weekly Fantasy Advice — 26 November 2011

Our  Week 12 Fantasy Football Versus Decision-Maker brings in some interesting match-ups. With three games having already been played on Thursday, there are still thirteen games on tap for Sunday and Monday. Here’s Week 12’s toughest match-ups, with fantasy analysis along with the final decision:

Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons vs. Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos

Ryan will go up against the Vikings, who have one of the weakest pass defense’s in the NFL. With Julio Jones back in the line-up this week, it makes Ryan even more dangerous. After taking over for Orton in week 5, Tebow came into the game and scored 18 fantasy points. Based on that performance Tebow should exceed 18 points easily. I’m going with Ryan , based on Minnesota’s horrid pass defense.

Andy Dalton, QB, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Carson Palmer, QB, Oakland Raiders

Palmer has been very consistent since taking over at quarterback for the Raiders. In week 12 Chicago comes into town, who allows a lot of passing yards, but also has the second most interceptions in the league. With Oakland’s receiving core banged up, it doesn’t look good for Palmer. Dalton’s favorite receiver, A.J. Green is expected back this week against the Browns. I know Cleveland doesn’t allow a lot of passing yards, but the main reason is because their opponents are usually up big and will run to keep the clock moving. I like Dalton this week and it won’t be close.

C.J. Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills vs. Toby Gerhart, RB, Minnesota Vikings

With Adrian Peterson out for this game, Gerhart looks to get things rolling against the stingy rushing defense in Atlanta. I don’t expect Gerhart to get the type of carries Peterson has been getting, with Percy Harvin emerging last week out of the back-field. Another injury to a starting running back has forced Spiller into the starting roll this week, and for the rest of the season. It won’t be easy this week for Spiller, going up against the Jets who have a better then average run defense. Spiller is the guy here , look for Buffalo to try and stretch the edges to get the speedy running back out in space.

Michael Bush, RB, Oakland Raiders vs. Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

With only one game over 100 yards the season, Mendenhall has been a disappointment this year. The Chiefs are up next for the less then stellar running back this week. Kansas City is not great against the run, but I’m still not buying Mendenhall this week, even if they get up big. Bush will get another start this week, this time against the vaunted Chicago defense. I don’t think the Raiders will be able to pass the ball effectively, so look for another huge game for Bush. I’d roll with Bush this week.

Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans vs. Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Johnson will be back for week 12 after missing the last six weeks with an injury. The Jaguars have a better then average pass defense, but I expect Johnson to get a ton of touches. Matt Leinart will be looking his was all day, seeing that he will be his first read on the majority of plays. Since fellow receiver Julio Jones is due back Sunday, I see White suffering quite a bit. I’m sure White will still have a nice game, but I’m taking Johnson . Look for your typical 100 yards with one touchdown type game from Johnson.

DeSean Jackson, WR, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Marques Colston, WR, New Orleans Saints

Colston is having another solid year despite missing two games with a broken collar bone. This week the Giants come to town who were just torched by Vince Young. If Young can do it, I’m sure Drew Brees can. Jackson had a good game last week, and it could have been even better if it wasn’t for a stupid unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that negated a big gain. New England is just bad in the secondary, as evidence by Julian Edelmen playing nickel cornerback. Both guys are solid No. 2 WR’s this week but Jackson is your guy .

Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Jake Ballard, TE, New York Giants

Both of these tight ends have been decent options all year, but Ballard has had seven more targets in the last three weeks. Sure Ballard has dropped some easy passes, but the fact that Eli Manning is still looking his way means something. Miller has a good match-up this week against the Chiefs, who as giving up the highest points per game for fantasy tight ends in the last five weeks. Ballard should see plenty of passes thrown his way once again this week, as I think their game with the Saints will be a shoot-out. Take Ballard this week .

Fred Davis, TE, Washington Redskins vs. Owen Daniels, TE, Houston Texans

Daniels has a good match-up this week against Jacksonville, who are giving up the 7th most fantasy points to tight ends this year. Davis has been the favorite target of either quarterback throwing to him this year. Davis will also have a favorable match-up this week against Seattle (8th most fantasy points allowed to tight ends). I think both of these players could have nice games, but with Santana Moss due back, I expect the middle of the field to be open for Davis. I like Davis  more this week.
