Atlanta Madonna fans, the diva has announced that she will be launching her very own fragrance called Truth or Dare by Madonna.
The fragrance is actually part of an entire brand called Truth or Dare, which will feature handbags, footwear, lingerie, accessories and her debut fragrance Truth or Dare by Madonna, catering to her fans who are close to her both in age and spirit.
Madonna’s Material Girl brand already retails through Macy’s and is aimed at teens, being co-designed with her daughter Lourdes.
Speaking to Women’s Wear Daily, Madonna said the timing was right and she had found a great partner in Iconix, who can help to translate her vision into reality.
Speaking about the fragrance, Truth or Dare by Madonna was formulated by Stephen Nilsen of Givaudan, to appeal to women aged 27-50 who have a “timeless style” and an “innate sex appeal.”
Truth or Dare by Madonna will be her signature floral fragrance, with top notes of neroli, gardenia and tuberose, a heart of jasmine, benzoin and white lily, and a base of vanilla absolute, caramelized amber and sensual musk.
The opaque white octagonal bottle has religious overtones with the a cross symbol on top of an “M” for Madonna.
Madonna says that she was influenced by her mother’s preference in perfumes, which include gardenias and tuberose, an intoxicating mixture that was at once “feminine and mysterious.”
The Material Girl said she wanted to re-create that scent, but make it fresh and contemporary, honest yet daring, which led to her naming the fragrance “Truth or Dare.”
Truth or Dare was also the name of her 1991 documentary film which chronicled her 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour and reportedly grossed over $29 million.
Her fragrance and toiletries line will include an Eau du Parfum 75ml $68, 50ml $55, 30ml $39, Body Lotion $28, and Shower Gel $24.
Truth or Dare by Madonna, the fragrance, will debut exclusively at Macy’s in April 2012 in the United States, with global distribution beginning in May.
