Jeff Blodgett, owner of Genundewah Uniforms, and Barbara Walters of the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce, were all smiles Saturday during the “Block that Rocks” party organized by Blodgett.
For the Canandaigua Main Street block that stretches from Phoenix Street to Beeman Street, Saturday, Nov. 12, was a day to celebrate.
Since Nov.1, three businesses have opened on the block, including American Made, which opened 10 a.m. Saturday. They sell products that are only made in America.
"It's not about politics,” said Co-owner Mike Keegan. “It's about American workers and American jobs."
The other two new businesses — The Salty Dog Shop Inc. and The Gateway Grille — both opened Nov. 1.
"In the six years I’ve been here, this is the first time that every single storefront has been filled on our block," said Jeff Blodgett, owner of Genundewah Uniforms at 137 S. Main St. "It’s just reason to have a celebration.”
The Block that Rocks party also lined the sidewalks with balloons and country music provided by Paul “The Small Guy” Szmal of K101.7 and K104.5. The festivities were completed with a sheet cake and an appearance by an Elvis Presley impersonator who danced down the street mingling with patrons.
