Many in the area who haven't experienced flooding in their homes have been at least impacted by road closings.
As the water drops, many are anticipating the reopening of Highway 59 to Atchison.
"What usually was a 15 minute drive, has now been a 50 mile drive, 50 minutes. And so it's added a lot of expense and time to our family," says Chris Crouse, a resident of Rushville.

Crouse and her family live in Rushville and her husband is a teacher in Atchison.
With Highway 59 to Atchison being closed because of floodwater, alternate routes are costing their family an additional $60 a week.
MODOT began making repairs to the road recently, awarding a flood emergency repair contract to Herzog.
Herzog has finished their initial work, but MODOT still needs water to drop to continue.
"We're still waiting for water to get off a portion of that road. And of course our concern right now is the safety for everybody. We can't reopen the road with water crossing both lanes of the traffic," says Melissa Black of MODOT.
Around 6 inches of water is rushing over 59 in three different places.
MODOT says they still have work to do on the road, but as soon as water drops enough that it's safe for drivers, they'll open back up while they're working.
"We know that's been closed for a long time, we know they're frustrated and we want to get that open for them so they can use it again," says Black.
MODOT says there's no telling when water could drop enough to reopen the road. They say it could be a few days to even a week or two.
Those impacted are being as patient as they can in the meantime.
"Well I'll get to see my husband more often and we won't have the added expense and time; the added expense to our budget and the time that it takes for him to go back and forth," says Crouse.
MODOT says their target date to finish the additional repairs and resurfacing to Highway 59 is October 15th.
