Elvis fan’s partner tells of confusion

THE partner of an Elvis Presley fan from Scotland found dead in Memphis has talked of his confusion over her death.

Roger Williams, who flew to the US city after the death of 41-year-old Aberdeenshire oil worker Gerrie Lawrie, spoke after police confirmed they had not ruled out foul play.

They said their preliminary investigation indicated the injuries were self-inflicted, although a definitive cause of death would not be available until a post-mortem report “hopefully within the next few weeks”.

Mr Williams, who lived near Frasersburgh with Ms Lawrie, referred to her as “my sweet Princess Gerrie” in an online tribute.

He said: “I am absolutely devastated and very confused right now. I pray that your angels take you to your peace where you can be with your friends.”

Ms Lawrie, who had two sons, Stefan, 20, and Christopher, 23, was reported missing on Saturday after she failed to arrive home on her flight back to Scotland.

Her body was found on Monday.
