Oh, Snap: Chynna Phillips Blasts 'Dancing With The Stars' | Ology

Chynna Phillips was sent packing on Tuesday nights Dancing with the Stars and now, days later, she's gotten herself in a tizzy. She was happy the spray tanning every week came to a close but she thinks she got the boot because the show is a popularity contest.

Well, clearly.

She told The Huffington Post, "It really does come down to the votes. And that's kind of sad because it's supposed to be a dance competition, but it's actually a popularity contest, which makes me kind of sad. You know, you have to have a little bit of faith that there are people out there who are truly voting for their favorite dance, not their favorite person, because it is a dance competition and people are working really hard. It would be very sad if that was undermined, and it looks to me like that keeps getting undermined."

How dare the viewers send her home! She only got paid thousands of dollars per episode!

Professional dancer Tony Dovolani chimed in, "It's something that scares all of us, especially the years when you might feel like you have a contender. In this particular case, I really feel like I have a chance to make it to the end. I've been on the show for 12 seasons, and Chynna has been a breath of fresh air for me. As much pull we have as teachers, in the end, it's all about the celebrity. At the same time, as a teacher, you have to make sure you have to showcase the celebrity more than you showcase yourself. So if people don't vote, they think that we might be safe, then we might end up going home."

Tony brings up a good point. He has had some winners in the past like Kathy Ireland and Kate Gosselin and this season he really had a chance with Chynna as a partner. On the other hand, Chynna--of course it is a popularity contest. Forget the Chaz and Carson. If you do great you move along, if you fall, you might be sent packing. And that is exactly what happened to you.

Chynna was at the top of the list for the first three results shows and was kept in. She understands that she fell but really, there's no reason to complain. Its a competition and anyone can go any week.

Now, if Chaz or Carson end up in the final four and they are still not dancing to par, well, then that's when we know the popularity contest has gone a little too far.
