. Now there is nothing between the team and the regular season. Normally, the fourth preseason game offers little drama. But that wasn't the case here. The Eagles worked on answering several questions related to their depth chart. The auditions are over and soon final cuts will be made. As an Eagles fan, the fourth preseason game answered some of these questions but also asked another one in regards to Vince Young(notes).
After struggling through the first three preseason games, Young looked solid in this game. He was responsible for a pair of nice touchdown drives. However, Young pulled his hamstring and had to leave the game. That meant Mike Kafka(notes) came into the game a little early. Kafka also played well and demonstrated his toughness after returning from a hard hit. The Eagles didn't really solve the issue about which quarterback will be the primary backup, but they have a new issue. If Young isn't ready for the season opener, the Eagles will need to sign a new quarterback. Andy Reid says he doesn't think that will be an issue but it is certainly possible.

The rest of the game involved some final auditions for Eagles players.Chad Halland Sinorice Moss(notes) were competing for the final wide receiver spot. Things looked good for Hall until a second quarter fumble. Meanwhile, tight end Donald Lee(notes) played very well and seems like a lock to make the team. On the defensive line, no player really separated from the back. Anthony Hargrove(notes), Trevor Laws(notes), and Derek Landri(notes) all played well. Hargrove is a lock to make the team but the other two are likely going to have to cross their fingers. In my opinion, I still think Laws is the odd man out.
For the other roster spots, Reid and his staff will have to make decisions. Some moves are no-brainers but others are going to be tricky. That is especially true in regards to the defense. Cut days are always tough for everyone involved, but it is a part of the game. Soon we will know how the team will look when it gets ready for the season opener.
