Cincinnati State Faculty On Strike

Teachers at Cincinnati State in Clifton walked off the job this morning. Talks with the administration have broken off without a new contract.

Faculty members formed a picket line at 7 a.m. when an agreement on a new contract isn't reached with school administration. Union members spent the day yesterday making signs as they prepare to strike.

The school and the union haven't been able to reach an agreement on salaries and overtime or the workload once the school switches over to semesters next fall. If there is a strike, students should still have class since subs and adjunct faculty will fill in.

It's not clear if the strike will interfere with the school's presidential inauguration this morning. Dr O'dell Owens will be formally inaugurated as the fifth president of Cincinnati State today. He was elected back in August of last year. Before that, Owens was the Hamilton County Coroner.
