BLOTTER: Police reports published Sept. 27, 2011

NIAGARA FALLS — Police are investigating a burglary in the 400 block of 16th Street. A 40-year-old man told officers that sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday, someone broke into his home by cutting through a screen on a window. The victim said a 42-inch TV, a 32-inch TV, a laptop computer and some cash were taken.

• BURGLARY : Officers are looking into a burglary in the 300 block of Ninth Street. A 64-year-old man told police that sometime between Sept. 16 and 2 p.m. Friday, someone broke into his home by smashing a basement window. The victim said 10 feet of copper pipe was taken from the basement.

• BURGLARY : Police are investigating a burglary in the 600 block of 16th Street. A 23-year-old man told officers that sometime between 11 p.m. Friday and 12:17 a.m. Saturday, someone broke into his home through a bedroom window. The victim said some cash and a laptop computer were taken.

• ARREST: Two Falls men were arrested after cops caught them breaking into a home in the 1500 block of 13th Street. Roving Anti-Crime and patrol officers said they responded to a call of a burglary in progress at 10:09 p.m. Saturday and then followed a suspect vehicle to a Falls scrap yard. Officers saw the suspects unloading radiators that had been stolen from a 13th Street home. Police charged Marcus J. Pitman, 27, 1970 Whitney Ave., and Jacob Andrew Harbaugh, 21, 1033 Niagara Ave., Apt. 2, each with second-degree burglary and petit larceny.

• ROBBERY : Detectives are investigating a home-invasion-style robbery in the 600 block of Pine Avenue. A 23-year-old man told police he was home, watching TV at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, when two male suspects, one armed with a gun came though the back door. One suspect ordered the victim and others in the home to get down on the floor and then demanded money. The second suspect then took the victim’s wallet, cell phone and some cash.

• ASSAULT: A Falls man was arrested after an assault in the 400 block of Memorial Parkway. A 46-year-old man told police he was at a home in the area at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, when another man hit him over the head with a beer bottle during a party. Officers charged Christopher John Myke Sr., 27, 231 20th St. Apt. 1, with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested on drunken driving charges after a traffic stop in the area of 17th Street and Elmwood Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Teral William Smith, 22, 1135 North Ave., was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed driver and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

• BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 3300 block of Ely Avenue. A 29-year-old woman told police that sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 12:14 a.m. Sunday, someone broke into her home by forcing open a door. The victim said a 42-inch TV, some cash and a Wii game system was taken.

• LARCENY : A homeowner in the 50 block of Willowbend Avenue reported $100 cash was taken from a dresser drawer. The owner placed two $100 bills in the drawer on Sept. 16 and noted one was missing as of Sept. 23, according to the sheriff’s report. A deputy interviewed a childcare giver, who denied taking the money, the report said.

• ATTEMPTED BURGLARY : A homeowner in the 6200 block of Hatter Road reported an attempted burglary at the home Sunday. The owner found three window screens were damaged; holes were noted in the screens where the closures are located, and the screens were partly lifted, according to the sheriff’s report. The owner figures the incident took place sometime on or after Sept. 21, the report said.
