Young Man With The Big Beat

1956 was the year that some hillbilly truck driver with the unlikely name of Elvis Presley kickstarted rock ’n’ roll with a his jumpy, jittery, hiccupy versions of Carl Perkins, Little Richard, Ray Charles, Otis Blackwell, Big Joe Turner, old-time country music, blues and standards his mother would love. Everything was instinctual. His singular genius—similar to that of Billie Holiday—was so ingrained in his very being, that he had no idea what he was doing. He just knew what felt good.

Cars.com™ Ignites New Car Shopping With iPad® App

designed to make new car shopping entertaining and engaging.  The app features high resolution video and photo catalogues, giving users access to information on hundreds of new vehicle models.  Starting today the app is available for free download from theApp Store(SM).

"We set out to create an experience that customizes new car information for the unique ways iPad users interact with Cars.com – and not simply adapting our popular Cars.com app for iPhone®," said Sharon Knitter, Cars.com senior director of mobile technology.  "On a dealer lot or even at work, most of our mobile users shop with our app for iPhone or Android™  to gather information on price, availability and inventory – elements which are more commonly suited for 'on-the-go' shopping.  iPad users, on the other hand, tend to concentrate more on photos, videos and new car content like reviews and specs, which is why our new Cars.com app for iPad specifically focuses on those features."

Used car scams get popular

By SUSAN TOMPOR | Detroit Free Press • Published September 26, 2011 Modified September 26, 2011

If gold is hot, con artists play up gold. So now that we're seeing some record-high prices for used cars, why not a used car scam?

Used cars continue to be popular, thanks to sluggish new car sales during the Great Recession and the reduced production levels during the quick-fix auto bankruptcies in 2009. The recession cut into pocketbooks and boosted demand for used cars.

There’s nothing I hate more than listening to the little pitter patter of unsupervised children running around squealing at a low-cost pizza buffet.

Ultimately, the sadness in your gut from the cardboard crust that has lodged itself sideways in your esophagus is only topped by the sadness in your soul over the lack of attention from the tired parents who just want to “enjoy” their all-you-can-eat respite from cooking at home. Alas, we cannot also forget the sadness in your ears upon the insistent screech of a fallen or ignored or — worse — wet child.

John Dies at the End

," based on David Wong's novel. This is his first new work since his 2005 "Masters of Horror" episode and exciting news for his fans. Here's the trailer.

Horror fans have been enamored with director Don Coscarelli since he gave us The Tall Man and that crazy bladed ball in 1979's "Phantasm." Then he cemented that relationship with the brilliant "Bubba Ho-Tep" featuring Bruce Campbell as an aged Elvis Presley. But Coscarelli has been creatively silent for too many years so the arrival of the trailer for "John Dies at the End" is a real treat. Of course it also made me jealous of all those people at Fantastic Fest enjoying many more treats than just this.

Is used really as good as new? - Baltimore Car Buying | Examiner.com

With the economy where it is, drivers are keeping their current vehicle.  As for those who must get another, used is more popular these days.  This will help you find the right one for the right price.

Dealerships, used car lots, private sellers, and auctions are the primary places to buy the used car you want.  Dealerships sell certified used which is a good way to go since they usually offer a warranty with it.  They do vigorous inspections on cars which is good, although it does come with a higher price tag.  Used car lots are cheaper and also a good way to go.  Look into its reputation to see what past buyers thought of it.  Many of them usually offer a 30 day to 1 year warranty.  They usually just put it through a state inspection in order to sell them which is only a safety inspection.  It could very well have leaks, cosmetic damage, and even transmission or engine issues and still be sold.  Private sellers and auctions are a 50/50 shot of getting a decent car or a nightmare.  You are relying on the seller to be honest about what kind of shape the car is in.  A lot of times they sell “as is” which means it hasn’t been inspected.  The price is much cheaper but after any repairs, to make it road ready could cost hundreds or even thousands.
