Despite having so many weapons on offense, receiver Andre Johnson is still quarterback Matt Schaub’s favorite target.
After sitting out the first game against the Jets because of a dislocated finger, Johnson had four catches for 100 yards in the victory over the Saints.

Rather than talk about his 48-yard catch that set up a score, Johnson was angry that he dropped a pass. That’s typical of him.
He’ll play about three quarters against San Francisco and sit out the Minnesota game. J
ohnson, the first receiver in NFL history to have at least 60 receptions in each of his first eight seasons, is trying to reach 100 catches and 1,500 yards again. He fell short last season when an ankle injury cost him three games. He had surgery in the offseason and says he’s 100 percent now and ready to start his ninth season.
Notes: The Texans were 4-2 last season when linebacker DeMeco Ryans suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon that ended his season. They finished 6-10 and 30th in defense. Ryans was ready for the start of camp, but last week, he suffered a bruised elbow and sat out the New Orleans game. Coach Gary Kubiak said he might not play against San Francisco. Ryans, who is playing inside in the new 3-4, is the defensive captain. They Texans are trying to be overly cautious with him, but Ryans is trying to force his way back onto the field. Xavier Adibi is playing well in his place, but he’s no Ryans. — John McClain
