Shoppers in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky have some unique options for gift-buying this holiday season.
Here's a run-down of several stores and boutiques -- national and independent -- that have opened for business in 2011, and that offer a wide variety of gifts.
Disney reopened at Kenwood Towne Centre with a new design and interactive features such as a Disney Princess with Magic Mirror, Translucent Trees, and the Disney Store Theatre.
Sloane Boutique and Couture Couture Boutique feature women's fashions at shops on Vine and Main streets in Over-the-Rhine. Lady Jane Boutique & Gifts, selling candies, handbags and home goods, opened at Bridgewater Falls in Fairfield Township. Posh Boutique opened a shop with men's and women's fashion on Observatory Avenue in Hyde Park.
The national retailer BuyBuy Baby opened its first local baby retail store at Deerfield Towne Center.
Kenwood Towne Centre has attracted several new-to-market retailers, including Madewell, a womenÂs shop thatÂs sister to J. Crew, which opened last week. Shoe retailer Sperry Top-Sider, menÂs store Vengeance Premium Boutique and childrenÂs retailer OshKosh BÂGosh also joined the mallÂs lineup. Opening in December is Michael Kors, selling wares by the high-end designer.
Located across from the AMC Theatres in Newport on the Levee, family-owned Peek-A-Toy has opened to offer unique entertaining and educational toys for kids. Kentucky Pickens, also at the complex, sells antiques, holiday décor, furniture, Kentucky-crafted goods, crafts and other odds and ends.
For men, Knicker's XY, with undergarments and swimsuits, and 45/46, selling custom suits and men's sportswear, have opened on Hyde Park Square.
For specialty gifts, check out Florence's Tri-State Beer & Wine Crafting, selling wine and beer-making kits and accessories; Travelessence in downtown Montgomery, offering luggage and travel accessories; Monograms on Main in Milford, with gifts and embroidery services; and The Flying Olive on Grandview Drive in Fort Mitchell, selling specialty olive oils and vinegars.
If you don't mind gifting gently-used items, check out Persnickety's, a children's resale shop on Columbus Avenue in Lebanon; Hole in the Wall, an antique store on Kellogg Avenue in the East End; Strut Resale Boutique, a women's designer consignment shop on Mall Road in Florence; Mannequin Boutique, a non-profit clothing, accessories, antiques and art shop on Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine; and Sin City Antiques & Treasures, a gallery of 15 antiques vendors on Monmouth Street in Newport. Browse from the deep selection of gently-used books at Stonekry Resale Books on Beechmont Avenue in Anderson Township.
And to aid your big-box shopping, check out new Target stores at Newport Pavilion in Newport and on Plainfield Road in Blue Ash. Joseph-Beth Booksellers also opened its first Northern Kentucky store at Crestview Hills Town Center.
